Need a consultant or engineer for your project?
RTC works with some of the best consultants, engineers and restoration architects in the industry. The vast majority of our larger projects have a consultant or engineer who is working for the owner. Let us know what type of consulting or engineering services you need and we can provide you with outstanding firms that do this kind of work. RTC is strictly a restoration contractor and does not perform any type of consulting or engineering services.
We can hire the consultant or engineer if the owner prefers to have RTC handle all aspects of the project. This process is not as common as the other way around, but is a wise choice on select projects.
The value A consultant or engineer brings to the project
Better pricing and quality work are the advantages of using a consultant or engineer on a project. The field of repair and restoration is very specialized and not all consultants, engineers and contractors are qualified to do such work. Choose someone who has the proven skill sets in this area.
On larger projects, especially ones that will be competitively bid, the consultant or engineer creates a complete set specifications and drawings to which all bidders must adhere. Otherwise, bid pricing and scope of work submitted are all over the board. This, in turn, makes it difficult to determine the right choice for the owner. Doing a large and complex repair or restoration project without a consultant or engineer on board is like designing a building without an architect, then putting it out to bid.
Retaining a consultant or engineer addresses actual/potential structural hazards or other liabilities such as leaks relative to the building or garage. If problems or issues are caught early, the cost is known before the bidding process takes place. Additionally, mockups of the repair processes can be performed on a limited basis to confirm that the desired end result is achieved.
RTC – Assisting the consultant or engineer with the initial evaluation
RTC is commonly hired by the consultant or engineer to assist with the initial evaluation. We can set a swing stage to allow access to the building exterior, rent and operate boom lifts and supply manpower to open up areas for inspection. We also assist with water testing or other labor-related needs.
Additionally, RTC can supply budget numbers so the magnitude of the work can be known before the bidding process takes place. Mockups of the repair processes can be performed on a limited basis to confirm the desired end result is achieved.
What A consultant can expect when working with RTC
RTC teams have very extensive technical skills. We do not work on new construction projects, but solely on restoration and repair project. Our goal is to be a “low maintenance” contractor not only for the owner, but also for the consultant/engineer. We are team players who resolve problems…not create them.
Beyond quality of work, project management is one of our strongest assets. We know how to interact with consultants and engineers. Our paperwork, scheduling and support are second to none. Proper, timely documentation is key to a smooth-running project.
Our safety record speaks for itself. RTC’s motto is “Safety First, Quality Second and Production Third.” We first want a safe project with top-quality work. Then we concentrate on production improvements. We will not sacrifice safety and quality just to get the work done faster.
RTC understands that as contractor on the project, our performance reflects on the consultant or engineer that recommended we bid on the job. We must perform to a high standard so that the consultant maintains their good standing with the client.
The more challenging a project is… the better we like it.
From the office to the field, our project team enjoys the more technically challenging projects; there is no project too difficult. Whatever the problem—glazing, the parking garage, waterproofing, masonry, concrete, stone, stucco/EIFS, structurally related issues or other wall components—RTC has the experience and extensive skills to deliver creative, economical solutions.
